Why do we use Thinking Maps?

Thinking Maps is a whole-school, brain based approach to teaching and learning is designed to build foundational critical thinking, problem solving, comprehension, and communication skills necessary for academic success.

They are tools for learning and include eight visual patterns, each linked to a specific cognitive process. It is a set of graphic organisers.

Thinking Maps are applied in all content areas and all grade levels and can be used in combinations for complete thinking activities.

They help our learners to learn to select and use appropriate maps to organise their ideas and thoughts.
