Why Do We Want ‘Thinking’ Accreditation?

Mrs Carolina van Heerden, Executive Head and director of The Mountain Cambridge School believes that this Thinking School accreditation is an opportunity to grow further and to continue to demonstrate our commitment to the principles of a ‘Thinking School’. It also affirms our commitment to continuous learning, and to continue with our reflective practice by engaging our entire school community in this learning journey.

At The Mountain Cambridge School we have selected ‘Thinking Tools’ which enable learners to organise their thoughts and make effective decisions about how to approach their work, preparing them to become independent, critical thinkers. We strive to produce a sustainable, whole-school transformation through globally tried-and-tested methodologies within local communities of practice.

At The Mountain Cambridge School we believe that good thinking skills are a critical component in getting our learners ‘Real World Ready’ as well as preparing for University and College. We therefore infuse ‘Thinking Skills’ throughout the whole curriculum pathway.

“I like friends who have independent minds because they tend to make you see problems from all angles.”
“Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do.”

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
